Over the years my collection of crafting supplies has expanded...shocker. To keep me most inspired -and actually using what I have- I've found that being really organized helps. If I can easily find something and actually see it, I'm more likely to use it. Ikea's Kassett series has been helpful on more than one occasion, especially for larger items like writing sets, paper, stickers and blank cards. I also use a large one as a 'memory box', a place to keep brochures, cards, ticket stubs and other memorabilia that hasn't made it into a scrapbook or journal yet.
My leftover jam jars are my container of choice for smaller stuff. They're free and great for corralling little stuff like trim, notions and small scraps. I like how the jam jars contain things, keep them visible, and are easy to move around to see what else is on the shelf.
I like having things in separate containers so I can pull them out all at once and really see what my options are. How do you organize your supplies? Do you keep most of them in containers like I do? or are you a drawer and shelf kind of person?

Tja, I have been needing to re-organize my office for quite some time now, but I have run out out creative ways to do it... that and space to store things. Oh, how I wish that knocking out a wall and expanding would be as easing as baking a cake. (and as cheap)
I'm all about organizing too. :) Shocker. For my daughter's room, we took old mason jars and cut out cute scrap paper circles to put in the tops of jars. The paper coordinates with the colors in her room: aquas and reds and blues. In the jars she keeps her eraser collection, shells, rocks, friendship bracelets she's made, etc.
This is something I need to do because my husband is tired of my many junk drawers. Your area looks fantastci! Good JOb!
Me too! I cannot organize enough and I have boxes for EVERYTHING! :-) But I think you probably already knew that about me too!
Fancy seeing you at Jules' WMP! :) Love the KASSETT boxes too, but I hate putting them together. Screws? Crazy. Anyway, love your use of the jam jars.
I'm a bit of a mixer, I suppose. Loving those jam jars and how you have re-used them. But re: Monica's comment - do you really have to use screws for those KASSETT boxes? That's a bit crazy (though I do love IKEA).
@Carrie: yep, they do have screws, but they're almost like little screw-on-cap sorts of things. If you assemble a bunch at once it can get annoying, but then again, you only do it once and then it's over! =)
I have a ridiculous amount of those jam jars because I think they're too pretty to throw away! When I get ready to organize my craft space, I'll have to remember to pull them out. Great idea!
Jam jars are the best, especially the ones with the red plaid lids!
So many containers! The labels on the boxes are pretty and such a good idea. Part of the reason my craft supplies are scattered everywhere is so I can see what I have got. This is a pretty solution.
Aww... I think I need you to be here, along with the boxes. I am not so organised. I have storage containers, but don't seem to be able to easily choose the right one for the right job..
But jars - yes, they are great. I have some old glass yoghourt jars, with plastic tops, where I keep buttons by colour, beads and little bits like chipboard flowers, little die-cuts, metal embellishments... And larger jam-jars, like yours, with mixed vintage buttons, plus ribbons by colour; then some mason-style jars, with larger collections of ribbon. If everywhere else was so organised (rather than just that one little set of shelves), my life would be soo tidy!
Good plan to use a jar for oddments of fabric... never thought of that - was using an envelope. Hello, spare jar, where are you?
