Meter-long Bratwurst

This week's Corner View theme is 'evening'. Evenings here are currently filled with shoppers wandering around the Christmas markets eating things like Lebkuchen cookies:

or meter-long bratwurst:

or crunching on candied toasted almonds:

downtown in Germany can smell really good on a December evening!

I love, love, love the Christmas markets... in fact, we are headed downtown this evening to meet with the same friends that we have met with the last four years! Quite a tradition.

I'm no stranger to the bratwurst. I grew up in Wisconsin, a state that has a large German population. Anyways, I can smell them now.

Thanks for them memories!

ok, now, I can ONLY get Lidl lebkuchen und bratwurst right now, because, well, Lidl is Lidl even in Italy. THe bratwurst is Nürnberger -- the little guys -- and the lebkuchen cannot compare to what we could get, also in Nürenberg---and also in Hamburg, where a seasonal shop opened every advent selling them.

I loved walking around the Hamburger Weihnachtsmarkt on the Rathaus (as long as it was not pouring rain down sideways). Germany is THE Christmas country, oder?

Germany is definitely the Christmas country - so true! It's really a great time of year to experience this country!
