Roadside Kitsch: South of the Border

During our US road trip this summer we stopped at a place my parents always refused to stop: South of the Border on I-95. There's a good reason we never stopped, but this time I was determined (and we wanted a bathroom break, ha). The volume of kitsch -both physical and visual- was astounding. It did make for great photo-ops though...

Have you ever been to South of the Border? Any other roadside kitsch locales you remember or have visited?

It's just south of the NC/SC state line, hence the name. You really can't miss it if you're driving down 95. There are tons of billboard ads starting over 100 miles away and you can see the giant sombrero tower when you're still quite a ways off. It's pretty silly looking for sure!
