Danke.

Today is Thanksgiving in the USA and millions of people are sitting together with friends and family sharing turkey, cranberries, pumpkin pie, etc. Today I'm teaching a class at the university here in Germany and grading papers; it's a normal work day. Earlier this month I declared to a fellow American that November was a great get-it-done month since there were no holidays. I was promptly laughed at for forgetting Thanksgiving -how do you forget Thanksgiving?! By living abroad for so many years. Yet somehow it still feels strange to not celebrate the holiday.

Today I'm thankful for friends and family, for God who centers me, for the internet which has allowed me to stay in touch with people, blog, and meet new people, and for all those special moments we witness that just take our breath away.

What are you thankful for?

We get today and tomorrow off because we work for an American company here in Germany. I'm thankful for that because I can run errands on a holiday! I'm also so thankful for technology like skype so we can see our families today.

Nice that you get the day off Amie! And yes, Skype is a boon, right?
Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving Juliette! We are celebrating with a German couple across the street (she lived in the states for several years) and on Saturday we are celebrating with my parents and my cousin. So, I guess I am thankful for having two Thanksgiving dinners. :) Seriously though, I am thankful for being so close to my family.

I'm thankful that in just a few weeks I will be celebrating Thanksgiving here with my German "family"... O.K., so it will be on the third Advent, but better late than never, huh?

I am also so thankful that, despite the fact that my family misses me, they still support me in having followed my heart to Germany.
